Located directly next to Jiaming Lake (嘉明湖), this Bai Yue is commonly climbed by hikers who are visiting the most popular and beautiful lake in Taiwan.
Mt. Sancha (三叉山) and Jiaming Lake can climbed via several different traditional Bai Yue routes, but the most common is the 3-day up and down route to the lake itself.
Hikers will spend their first day making the long and steep hike up to to the Jiaming Lake Refuge Cabin (嘉明湖避難山屋). The second day is out and back to the lake (including this peak), and the third day is back down the same trail.
Getting to this peak from the main trail is relatively easy, and requires nothing more than a short 15 minute walk up to the peak from the main trail.
The peak itself is large and flat, and can accommodate a large number of people, making it a great place for large group photos. It also provides excellent views of Yushan National Park and the surrounding area.
Hikers wishing for a longer hike can include the lake and this peak as part of the longer South Second Section Route or Xinkang Traverse Route.
