The northernmost peak on the South First Section Route (南一段), hikers will need to climb a seemingly endless series of stairs to get to the mountain house located a short distance from this peak.
Located along the famously beautiful south cross highway, this peak was inaccessible for 13 years due to the highway being closed due to landslide damage.
With the highway being re-opened (for now), the peak has seen a resurgence in popularity and is one of the three easy peaks that make up the South Cross 3 Stars (南橫三星).
It’s worth noting that the mountain house located not far from this peak is the only cabin in the area, making it particularly appealing.
Hikers can opt to summit this peak as part of the 3 stars route, or the longer and more difficult (but rewarding) South First Section route.
