About Us – Taiwan Outdoors’ Vision
Owned and operated by Origin Wild Co., Taiwan Outdoors belongs to a family of tour brands. This family also includes Parkbus Taiwan and RideTaiwanRide. Origin Wild Co was created to solve three major challenges. Two of these are for the consumers and one for Taiwan’s tourism industry.
Adventure seekers often struggle to find reliable information to plan and get inspired to explore Taiwan’s mountains, rivers, and oceans. Taiwan Outdoors aims to provide clear, trustworthy English-language information about outdoor and adventure experiences across Taiwan. Plenty of amazing blogs and videos explore it, but because they’re so scattered, planning your next Taiwan adventure feels frustrating. We’re trying to bring it all together.
Taiwan Outdoors connects adventure seekers with curated tours, trusted guides and providers to make Taiwan trips safe, sustainable, and unique. You might watch an amazing canyoning video, yet struggle to find anyone professional to guide you there. Well there is now. Taiwan Outdoors is working with some amazing local experience providers to open the opportunities of Taiwan to the world.
We’ve learned how time, money, and language barriers make it hard for local Taiwanese guides to reach global travelers. Taiwan is full of amazing communities and people, yet many still struggle to reach international visitors. That’s the role we want to support them in. We can’t do this alone. So that’s about us. Now here’s the people doing the work.
About Us – Our Team
Michael McCreesh (Founder/CEO)
Spanning four continents, Michael has over 20 years of tourism, entrepreneurship and economic development; working for both not-for-profit and for-profit enterprises.
Beyond building on Taiwan Outdoors, RideTaiwanRide and Parkbus Taiwan, he currently lectures tourism at a local university and has begun his Ph.D. at National Taiwan University in the School of Forestry and Resource Conservation.
Michael is an avid outdoorsman and loves hiking, cycling with friends, family and even people he doesn’t know!
Chen Po-Ju (Founder/COO)
As a native Taiwanese, Po-Ju’s goal is to reimage Taiwan as a Gem of outdoor activity in Asia.
Po-Ju has accumulated over 6 years of experience in the travel industry and non-governmental agencies with a focus on building strong partnerships – knowing that nothing great comes without mutually beneficial collaborations.
Besides his passion for marketing Taiwan as a destination to the international market, He also focuses on the potential of digital transformation on the travel industry.
Daniel Rios (Tour Manager)
Daniel has lived in Taiwan for over 10 years, and has spent a good amount of that time exploring Taiwan’s great outdoors.
As one of the few foreigners to complete Taiwan’s 100 Peaks (Bai Yue, 百岳), he’s been featured across digital and print media in Taiwan for his hiking achievements. He has advanced knowledge of Taiwan’s extensive trail system, and is familiar with all the major peaks, trails, huts, and operators related to hiking in Taiwan.
When not on the trail, he enjoys researching Taiwan’s mountain history, hiking off trail, river tracing, climbing mountains and hiking abroad, cooking, and spending time with his dog.
