Caoling Historic Trail Tour – Overview
Your private transportation will pick you up in Taipei and drop your group and guide off at Yuanwangkeng Riverside Park with washrooms nearby. This will be the start location of the tour along the Caoling Historic Trail. Guests will hike eastwards towards the coast and pass by rambling streams, historic sites and through a dense forested area. With little elevation gain, this stunning journey is suitable for beginner-level hikers and families, while also being an enjoyable hike for all abilities.
There are several spots where guests can rest along the hike and we’ve selected the perfect location for guests to sit and enjoy their lunch (not included in tour) looking over the coast.
If time permits, and the group feels up to it, guests can take a side trail up along the Taoyuan Valley Trail with views across the surrounding grasslands and enjoy even more spectacular views of the rugged coastline of Yilan County. On a clear day, guests will look over the Pacific Ocean with views of the famous Turtle Island off in the distance. A short descent along the Caoling Historic Trail brings guests to our pick-up location, Dali Visitor Center. Here guests can explore a local temple, grab some refreshing snacks from local food vendors, before jumping in our private van and return to Taipei Main Station.

Caoling Historic Trail – Tour Schedule
Tour Schedule
– 07:30 – Bus Pick Up: Taipei Main Station (alternate pick up locations available upon request. Additional costs may apply)
– 09:00 – Arrive: Yuanwangkeng Riverside Park
– 09:00 to 14:30 – Hike 7+km along the Caoling Historic Trail and up along the Taoyuan Valley Trail (if time permits and guests are capable)
– 14:30 – Private Transportation Pick Up in Yilan County
– 16:30 – Estimated Arrival at Taipei Main Station
*This is a suggested itinerary, however guests can modify departure and pick up times as per their desired schedule. Some flexibility is available if guests wish to visit other destinations within the allocated 10 hour tour window. These are estimated times and are dependent on traffic to/from the destination.

⚠️ TOUR AVAILABILITY: This tour can be booked throughout the year. Some restrictions may apply during holidays or Lunar New Year. Tours must be booked with at least 5 days notice.
⚠️ GUIDE: In addition to providing an amazing outdoor experience, our guides have the responsibility for guest safety and well-being. Our guides will monitor the group’s fitness levels and health throughout the tour. In the event of poor weather or if any guests are struggling from poor fitness or adverse conditions, they reserve the right to alter the tour itinerary and/or cancel the ascent. We thank you for your understanding as we believe guests’ safety is of the utmost importance.
⚠️ TOUR SUITABILITY: The Caoling Historic Trail is an easy level trail and suitable for those with basic walking abilities and comfort in climbing stairs. There is a little elevation gain along this trail of about 200m. Please consider your own hiking ability before booking this tour. ⚠️ CANCELLATION POLICY:
- 95% refund when the cancellation notice arrives 41 days or more before the scheduled day of departure.
- 90% refund when the cancellation notice arrives 31 days to 40 days before the scheduled day of departure.
- 80% refund when the cancellation notice arrives 21 days to 30 days before the scheduled day of departure.
- 70% refund when the cancellation notice arrives two days to 20 days before the scheduled day of departure.
- 50% refund when the cancellation notice arrives one day before the scheduled day of departure.
- No refund when the cancellation notice arrives after the scheduled day of departure.
