Pingxi Historic Trail – Day Tour (Guided)
Connected with other historic trails in the region, this historical route was used extensively during the Qing Dynasty period for those trading and traveling between the Tamsui and Kavalan prefectures of northern Taiwan. At present time, these areas fall within New Taipei City and Yilan County.
The package offers participants the opportunity to hike 10km from New Taipei City to Yilan along two historic hiking trails in Taiwan. These are easy, non-technical trails that offer glimpses over the picturesque east coast of Taiwan.
By booking this tour package, you can make the most of a day out in nature on a spectacular, small-group hiking experience that includes travel insurance, a licensed, bilingual tour guide, and private transportation to drop-off the group at the western end of the trail and picked-up in the beach community of Wai’ao on the eastern side.

Pingxi Historic Trail Tour – Overview
This trail is a unique, 10km thru-hike that traverses from the jungles of New Taipei City to the beaches of Yilan County.
Your private transportation will pick you up in Taipei and drop your group and guide off at Wushan Campgrounds with washrooms nearby. This will be the start location of the tour along the Pingxi Historic Trail. Guests will hike eastwards towards the coast, crossing several small streams, stopping at coastal view points and even summiting a small mountain peak if you feel up to it. This unique journey is suitable for intermediate-level hikers and families with children who are able to hike around 10km.
There are several spots where guests can rest along the hike and we’ve selected the perfect location for guests to sit and enjoy their lunch (not included in tour) looking over the coast.
Enjoy spectacular views of the rugged coastline of Yilan County as you hike towards the beach. On a clear day, guests will look over the Pacific Ocean with views of the famous Turtle Island off in the distance. The final destination for the day is the beach town of Wai’ao. Here, guests can go for a swim in the Pacific Ocean, explore the shoreline or grab some refreshing snacks from local restaurants, before jumping in our private van and returning to Taipei Main Station.

Tour Schedule
- 07:30 – Bus Pick Up: Taipei Main Station (在台北車站集合並搭上 van)
- 09:30 – Arrive at Wushan Campground Parking Lot (抵達烏山營地停車場)
- 16:00 – Bus Departure from Wai'ao Train Station (從外澳端集合並返回台北)
- 18:00 – Estimated Return: Taipei Main Station (預計抵達台北車站)
*This is a suggested itinerary, however guests can modify departure and pick up times as per their desired schedule. Some flexibility is available if guests wish to visit other destinations within the allocated 10 hour tour window. These are estimated times and are dependent on traffic to/from the destination.

⚠️ PICK-UP / DROP-OFF LOCATIONS: Our pick-up / drop-off location for this tour will be Taipei Main Station. If a guest requires an alternate pick up/drop off location, please send an email to YourTaiwanOutdoors@gmail.com.

⚠️ TOUR AVAILABILITY: This tour can be booked throughout the year. Some restrictions may apply during holidays or Lunar New Year. Tours must be booked with at least 5 days notice.
⚠️ GUIDE: In addition to providing an amazing outdoor experience, our guides have the responsibility for guest safety and well-being. Our guides will monitor the group’s fitness levels and health throughout the tour. In the event of poor weather or if any guests are struggling from poor fitness or adverse conditions, they reserve the right to alter the tour itinerary and/or cancel the ascent. We thank you for your understanding as we believe guests’ safety is of the utmost importance.
⚠️ TOUR SUITABILITY: The Pingxi Historic Trail is an easy level trail and suitable for those with basic walking abilities and comfort in climbing stairs. There is a little elevation gain along this trail of about 200m. Please consider your own hiking ability before booking this tour. ⚠️ PAYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Full payment is required at least 3-days prior to the departure date. This ensures our guests’ commitment to the tour and allows us to confirm participation.
⚠️ CANCELLATION POLICY:
- 95% refund when the cancellation notice arrives 41 days or more before the scheduled day of departure.
- 90% refund when the cancellation notice arrives 31 days to 40 days before the scheduled day of departure.
- 80% refund when the cancellation notice arrives 21 days to 30 days before the scheduled day of departure.
- 70% refund when the cancellation notice arrives two days to 20 days before the scheduled day of departure.
- 50% refund when the cancellation notice arrives one day before the scheduled day of departure.
- No refund when the cancellation notice arrives after the scheduled day of departure.
