Manyueyuan National Forest – Day Tour (Guided)
Located in Sanxia District of New Taipei City, Manyueyuan National Forest Recreation Area is a lush valley famed for its cascading waterfalls, dense virgin subtropical forest, crystal-clear streams, and rich biodiversity. Named “Manyueyuan” (meaning ‘Full Moon’) due to the round, moon-like shape of nearby Mt. Manyueyuan when viewed from the valley, this park offers one of the most accessible and rewarding forest retreats in Northern Taiwan.
On our guided Manyueyuan Day Tour, guests are picked up in private transportation from Taipei and driven in comfort right to the park entrance. Wander along gently winding paved trails and wooden boardwalks that hug the banks of the Ruifang Stream, surrounded by towering Cryptomeria trees, ancient ferns, and vibrant mosses. The park is renowned for two spectacular cascades—Manyueyuan Waterfall and Chuchun Waterfall—where elevated viewing platforms allow you to experience the invigorating mist and negative ions generated by the rushing waters.
Take time to explore the modern Manyueyuan Visitor Center, featuring interactive ecological exhibits on local wildlife, forest conservation, and aquatic ecosystems. With well-maintained facilities, smooth trails suitable for all ages, and plenty of quiet corners for forest bathing, this day tour provides the perfect restorative escape from the city.

Tour Schedule
- 08:30 – Pick Up: Taipei Main Station (alternate pick up locations available upon request. Additional costs may apply)
- 09:45 – Arrive: Manyueyuan National Forest Recreation Area Entrance
- 10:00 – 15:30 – Guided forest walk, waterfall exploration, visitor center exhibits, and picnic/lunch break
- 15:30 – Private Transportation Pick Up at Manyueyuan Entrance
- 17:00 – Estimated Arrival at Taipei Main Station
*This is a suggested itinerary, however guests can modify departure and pick up times as per their desired schedule. Some flexibility is available if guests wish to visit other destinations within the allocated 10 hour tour window. These are estimated times and are dependent on traffic to/from the destination.
Waterfalls & Main Attractions
Manyueyuan Waterfall (滿月圓瀑布): Dropping approximately 20 meters over a sheer granite cliff face, this iconic waterfall creates a thunderous roar and a refreshing cloud of cool mist. A multi-level wooden observation deck allows visitors to get up close to the cascades while taking in views of the surrounding rainforest canopy.
Chuchun Waterfall (處女瀑布): Tucked away on a side stream, Chuchun Waterfall is widely considered one of the most picturesque cascades in Northern Taiwan. A broad, curtain-like waterfall tumbles into a crystal-clear pool, best viewed from a double-story covered gazebo that offers shelter and panoramic photo opportunities.
Ruifang Stream Trail (蚋仔溪觀魚步道): A flat, barrier-free paved walk along the bubbling river valley. Built with eco-friendly engineering, the stream features fish ladders that allow native Formosan shoveljaw carp and river gobies to migrate upstream.
Manyueyuan Visitor Center (滿月圓遊客中心): Comprising three pavilion-style wooden buildings, the center features interactive natural history displays, forest audio experiences, and information on local bird species, butterflies, and amphibians.

⚠️ PICK-UP / DROP-OFF LOCATIONS: Our pick-up / drop-off location for this tour will be Taipei Main Station. If a guest requires an alternate pick up/drop off location, please send an email to YourTaiwanOutdoors@gmail.com.
⚠️ GROUP SIZE: This tour can be booked for groups between 1-7 passengers. If you have a group larger than 7 guests, please send an email to discuss logistics.
⚠️ TOUR AVAILABILITY: This tour can be booked throughout the year. Some restrictions may apply during holidays or Lunar New Year. Tours must be booked with at least 5 days notice.
⚠️ TOUR SUITABILITY: Manyueyuan National Forest features paved paths, wooden boardwalks, and smooth stone steps suitable for families, seniors, and casual walkers. Gentle inclines lead up toward the waterfall decks, but the pace can be easily customized to your group’s preferences.
⚠️ GUIDE: In addition to providing an amazing outdoor experience, our guides have the responsibility for guest safety and well-being. Our guides will monitor the group’s fitness levels and health throughout the tour. In the event of poor weather or if any guests are struggling, they reserve the right to alter the tour itinerary.
⚠️ PAYMENT & CANCELLATION POLICY: Full payment is required at least 3-days prior to the departure date.
- 95% refund when the cancellation notice arrives 41 days or more before the scheduled day of departure.
- 90% refund when the cancellation notice arrives 31 days to 40 days before the scheduled day of departure.
- 80% refund when the cancellation notice arrives 21 days to 30 days before the scheduled day of departure.
- 70% refund when the cancellation notice arrives two days to 20 days before the scheduled day of departure.
- 50% refund when the cancellation notice arrives one day before the scheduled day of departure.
- No refund when the cancellation notice arrives after the scheduled day of departure.
